Kumbh Mela is the holiest congregation of Hindus. Devotees gather to attain salvation with bathing in the holy river waters. The largest gathering in the world happens every 12 years for Purna Kumbha and every 6 years for Ardh Kumbha.
The pious festival is celebrated at four places in India: Nashik (on the banks of River Godavari), Ujjain (on the banks of River Kshipra), Haridwar (on the banks of River Ganga) and Allahabad (on the banks of Sangam; confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati).
