Tour Details

Kanha National Park, the largest national park in Madhya Pradesh, is a pristine natural treasure located in the scenic Maikal Hills of the Satpura range. Spread across the Mandla and Balaghat districts, this expansive park covers an impressive area of 940 square kilometers. Known for its exceptional management and remarkable biodiversity, Kanha National Park has earned its reputation as one of the best-preserved wildlife destinations in India. For those passionate about exploring untamed nature and witnessing majestic wildlife up close, a Kanha Wildlife Tour promises an unforgettable experience.

History and Formation of Kanha National Park

The story of Kanha’s conservation journey dates back to 1879 when the region was declared a reserve forest. Later, in 1933, it was officially notified as a wildlife sanctuary, marking a significant step in the protection of its rich flora and fauna. Initially, Kanha was divided into two separate wildlife sanctuaries: Hallon, covering an area of 250 square kilometers, and Banjar, which spanned 300 square kilometers. It was in 1955 that these regions were combined and elevated to the status of a national park. Since then, Kanha has been a shining example of successful wildlife conservation in India.
